Overview
For organisations using Nonprofit Cloud (NPC), a Gift Transaction may not be created after matching completes for a one-off Token Charge.
This can happen when the Token Charge is created from the Token Payment button on the Recurring Payment record, but the donation value is entered into the Amount field instead of the Donation field.
Gift Transactions are only created through matching when the relevant donation field is populated.
Use Case / Scenario
A client creates a one-off Token Charge for a recurring donor from the Recurring Payment record.
The Payment Txn is created and matching completes, but no Gift Transaction is generated in Nonprofit Cloud.
How this Works with Payments2Us and NPC
When Payments2Us creates a Payment Txn for NPC processing, the matching process uses the donation-related field to determine whether a Gift Transaction should be created.
If the Token Charge uses the Amount field for the donation value, the Payment Txn may process successfully, but NPC matching will not create the Gift Transaction.
To generate a Gift Transaction, the Token Charge should use the Donation field instead of the Amount field.
Details / Steps / Resolution
Update the Token Payment layout
To ensure future Token Charges generate Gift Transactions, add the Donation field to the Token Charge field set.
- Go to Setup.
- Open Object Manager.
- Search for and open Payment Txn.
- Go to Field Sets.
- Open the tokenChargeTransaction field set.
- Drag and drop Donation into the field set.
- Click Save.
When creating future Token Charges, make sure the donation value is entered into the Donation field instead of the Amount field.
Fix past Payment Txns where Amount was used
For Payment Txns already created using the Amount field, update the Payment Txn so NPC matching can create the Gift Transaction.
- Open the relevant Payment Txn record.
- Update Amount to
0. - Populate Donation Amount with the correct donation value.
- Click Save.
- Update the Status of the Payment Txn to NPC Processing Start.
Once matching completes, the Gift Transaction should be created.
