Overview
When a card payment is processed, Payments2Us can optionally save a masked version of the credit card number for reference. This is controlled by the Credit Card Masking Policy field on the Merchant Facility.
The masking policy determines which digits are retained and displayed. All other digits are masked.
Payments2Us does not store the full credit card number in any scenario.
Use Case / Scenario
A client may want to confirm which card was used for a payment without storing sensitive card details.
For example, a donor or payer may contact you and ask which card was used for a payment. The masked card number can help identify the card while still protecting the full card number.
How this Works with Payments2Us
Payments2Us uses the Credit Card Masking Policy field on the Merchant Facility to determine how much of the card number is saved in a masked format.

Payments2Us will only save the digits allowed by the masking policy. The full credit card number is never saved.
The available options are:
| Credit Card Masking Policy | What is Saved |
|---|---|
| None | No masked credit card details are saved. |
| 2x...2x | Saves the first 2 digits and the last 2 digits of the card number. |
| 2x...4x | Saves the first 2 digits and the last 4 digits of the card number. |
| 4x...4x | Saves the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits of the card number. |
| 6x...3x | Saves the first 6 digits and the last 3 digits of the card number. |
Example
If the card number was:
4111111111111111
Depending on the Credit Card Masking Policy, Payments2Us may save it like this:
| Credit Card Masking Policy | Example Masked Value |
|---|---|
| None | No masked value saved |
| 2x...2x | 41************11 |
| 2x...4x | 41**********1111 |
| 4x...4x | 4111********1111 |
| 6x...3x | 411111*******111 |
Important: These examples are for explanation only. Payments2Us does not store the full credit card number.
